After shining brightly at the lighting ceremony in Athens, the Flame of Hope has finally reached Turin. Welcomed with enthusiasm at Porta Nuova station, it was the start of a welcome ceremony that officially marked its arrival in the city set to host the Special Olympics World Winter Games.
The torch’s journey began yesterday with a stop in Rome, where it was received with honor at Fiumicino Airport by authorities and supporters. At the Vatican, the Flame of Hope received the blessing of Monsignor Oreste Pepe—a solemn moment highlighting the universal value of sports as a tool for inclusion and social change.
Now, the Flame is ready to travel across Piedmont. Starting Saturday, 1 March, the Law Enforcement Torch Run will pass through the region’s main cities, engaging communities and institutions in a journey of inclusion and awareness. The journey will culminate on Saturday, 8 March, when the torch will light the cauldron at the opening ceremony in the Inalpi Arena, officially launching the Games.
Turin, Sestriere, Pragelato, and Bardonecchia are ready to welcome over 1,500 athletes from 101 delegations to celebrate sports as a symbol of hope, unity, and determination. The Flame is here, and the countdown is over—the Games are about to begin.
