Michal Dolinsky from Považská Recognized by Famous Footballer Drogba

The Teenager with Cerebral Palsy will Represent Slovakia!

The following is an excerpt from Novy Cas’s article on Special Olympics MATP skier, Michal Dolinsky, who has been recognized for his athletic abilities by Didier Drogba.

“Michal cannot walk alone, does not talk and is fully dependent on the escort. You would probably say that there is no question of sport in his case. Mistake! He cycles and devotes himself to assisted monoski skiing. His performances were also appreciated by the former famous Chelsea FC footballer Didier Drogba. Michal was pleased and together with his father they will become the first Slovaks to represent Slovakia at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin in March.

“Within three months, we had no information that our child would have health problems, although the birth was not trouble-free, and our baby boy was saved. It was not until three months that we received the first relevant information about the future diagnosis from Dr. Sýkora - a pediatric neurologist whom we sought out ourselves,” said Michal’s father Miroslav, who gradually adapted the whole house to the boy to suit his needs.

Movement is good for him

Michal’s parents did not give in to fate and were looking for a way to make Miško’s life better and more pleasant. “From about the age of three, we started taking our son for walks in nature in a hiking carrier and in winter we tried to have our first experience on skis. In 2012, we took part in a monoski camp in Donovaly, where we got acquainted with assisted monoski riding,” revealed Miško’s father, who noticed that his son was smiling and looking satisfied when moving.”
