Volunteers are the heartbeat of every Special Olympics event. They bring energy and passion to motivate athletes to perform their best. Volunteers can count on being fully immersed in the World Winter Games Turin 2025 experience!

Accommodation
The volunteer dedicated to accommodation will take care of the guests staying in Turin during the event. You should be proactive and ready to meet all needs related to accommodations.
Accreditation
The volunteer in the Accreditation area plays a crucial role in supporting the organization and management of registration and identification activities for participants, speakers, guests, and team members during events, conferences, or congresses.
Catering
As a Catering and Hospitality Volunteer, you will act as the liaison between the sports delegations, guests, family members, and the food and beverage catering area.
Ceremonies (Opening & Closing)
As a Ceremony Volunteer, you will ensure athletes and all participants have an unforgettable and meaningful experience during the opening and/or closing ceremonies. You will help organize and manage the ceremonies, supporting and encouraging athletes and artists involved in the show. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that all participants feel well cared for and have a positive experience.
Conferences & Summits
The volunteer will assist with welcoming guests (athletes, tutors, mentors, or partners), addressing their informational needs, supporting staff members, and providing language assistance when required.
Delegation Services
Assist the delegation services team in supporting participating delegations with their arrival and departure, participation in meetings, opening and closing ceremonies, and other events. Each volunteer will work alongside a member of the delegation services team to provide this assistance.
Family and Honored Guest Services
As a volunteer in the HG & Family Area Lounge, you will serve as the main contact for Guests in this designated area, ensuring their needs are met and they feel welcome.
Healthy Athletes®
As a Healthy Athletes Volunteer, with a medical degree, you will assist or provide athletes with examinations for flexibility, functional strength, balance, and aerobic fitness. You will also offer expert guidance and recommendations to prevent and reduce injury risks.
Language Services
As a volunteer, you will use your language skills, particularly in English, to facilitate communication between staff, representatives, technicians, and other volunteers.
Logistics
As a site logistics volunteer, you will assist during the installation and dismantling phases of the venues, helping organize logistical activities and warehouse operations.
Marketing & Communications
As a communications volunteer, you will support our website and newsletter during the Games. Tasks include finding and posting engaging stories, editing, and translating content.
Media
As a social media volunteer, you will assist with content creation for our social media channels, including filming and photographing activities at various venues.
Non-Competitive Sport Demonstration Events
The volunteer will help set up and take down event areas and support award ceremonies and exercise demonstrations.
Spectator Services
As a volunteer in spectator services, you will ensure spectators have a great experience at the Games. Your duties will include selling tickets, managing access control, assisting at booths, running information points, providing directions, and supporting accessibility services.
Sports & Awards
As an award ceremony volunteer, you will assist the ceremony leader and work as part of the award ceremony team at your assigned location.
Transport
As a transport services volunteer, you will assist athletes and honored guests at pick-up and drop-off areas, communicate with users about bus schedules or car services, liaise with drivers, and help resolve transport-related issues.
Venue Management
As a volunteer for venue management, you will help ensure smooth operations throughout the Games. The site management team oversees all activities related to the venues and collaborates closely with other teams.
Volunteer Management
As a volunteer supporting the Volunteer Management team, you will assist with daily check-ins, oversee volunteer spaces, provide support at Volunteer Info Points, manage shift changes, and implement engagement activities for volunteers at your assigned location.
Honored Guest Service - Dedicated Host
Our Honored Guests play a vital role in the spirit of our movement. Volunteers in this role will welcome accredited VIPs, politicians, government officials, representatives from partner companies, and renowned sports figures who come to witness and support the determination and strength of Special Olympics (SO) Athletes.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing information about both sporting and non-sporting events.
- Assisting Honored Guests with tasks such as accompaniment and translation.
Delegation Assistant Liaison (DAL)
The DAL acts as the primary communication link between an assigned SO Delegation and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC).
Responsibilities include:
- Welcoming the delegation at the airport or station.
- Assisting with hotel and competition site transfers.
- Providing translation services.
- Supporting team accreditation processes.
- Verifying and communicating the team’s needs to supervisors.
- Remaining available to assist the delegation with any additional requirements.
Commitment: DALs must be available for the entire duration of the Games, from March 4th to March 17th, 2025, to ensure smooth communication between the Head of Delegation (HOD) and the LOC
Key Volunteers (KV)
Experienced volunteers who have participated in SO international events and possess advanced language, communication, and interpersonal skills can apply for the Key Volunteer role.
Key Volunteers should:
- Have expertise in team and group management.
- Be available for the entire duration of the Games.
- Be assigned to specific venues or departments based on their skills and experience.
Tandem Team
The Tandem Team program pairs one volunteer with an intellectual disability (ID) and one volunteer without a disability to work together as equals.
Responsibilities include:
- Completing all tasks as a team.
- Being integrated into one of the services provided by the organization.
- Supporting other volunteers in fulfilling their roles.
This program embodies the values of inclusion and teamwork, reflecting the heart of the Special Olympics movement.
